Gold Rush Chapter President's Message

Welcome to the most important and influential
solid waste and recycling professional organization
in North America!

SWANA’s Northern California Gold Rush chapter engages seasoned leaders and young professionals alike in the essential issues that confront our industry today, while creating environmentally responsible and economically viable plans for tomorrow. We are public service decision-makers. We are private sector technical engineers and consultants. We are facility managers. We are collection company operators and program managers. We are equipment manufacturers. We are passionate recyclers. Today, our chapter is over 300 members strong.

The Gold Rush chapter provides our members with many ways to advance their careers through certified training webinars and technical courses, professional networking opportunities, and Continuing Educational Unit (CEU)-eligible meetings, presentations, facility tours and workshops.

We speak with a loud and clear voice on the laws and rules that matter most to our industry. The Gold Rush chapter carries a strong advocacy message within California’s environmental legislative and regulatory community.  Our Legislative Task Force draws from the impressive resources of all three of our California chapters as it represents the interests of over 1,000 California-based SWANA members in Sacramento. These relentless advocates are recognized for their forward-thinking positions and their highly-skilled, inclusive approach while respectfully working with the governor’s office, elected officials, legislative staffs, and regulatory agency staffs on these critical matters. Through the backing of our national organization, we also have a powerful voice on Capitol Hill and the White House in Washington. They represent us well.

I personally invite you to get involved in this great organization and have some fun along the way!  Keep checking this website for upcoming event details. Can’t wait to see you at our next event!

Very warm regards,

Joe La Mariana
