Senate Passes Recycling Resolution
On November 16, the Senate passed S. Resolution 251 by unanimous consent. In this resolution, the Senate formally expresses their support for improving the recycling infrastructure in the United States. The resolution highlights the important role that the recycling industry plays in the national economy and the reductions in greenhouse gas emissions that can be further achieved. Development of the resolution was spearheaded by the Recycling Roundtable. The Roundtable is an advocacy group comprised of SWANA, the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, the Steel Recycling Institute, the Aluminum Association, the National Solid Wastes Management Association, the American Forest and Paper Association, and the Paper Recycling Coalition.
